The Texas Board of Criminal Justice (TBCJ) is appointed by the Governor to oversee the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Let the nine members on this board know what you think of their system violating the rights of inmates. If they're supposed to oversee this system, then they're not doing a very good job. Or do they know and are simply looking the other way because they think none of us will ever know? Or perhaps at the high cost of  justice, they think since we can't afford it, they're untouchable. Let them know they're not. If the people of this state have to be accountable when they make mistakes, so should they.

The Governor appoints the TBCJ so they must answer to him regardless of what his office says, he has authority over them. Let him know that you want him to step in and evaluate how they are violating inmate's rights.

We all know George W has a lot on his plate these days. But he is a native Texan and he did help create some of the mess the "agency" is in today (as related in this story). If nothing else, the letter will get forwarded to the right people, and that can't be a bad thing. While you're there, drop the VP and each of their wives a letter, too. The more your voice gets out there, the better.

              Contacting the White House 

The media is always so quick to report things so you'd think they'd be anxious to look into the fact this House Bill isn't being applied correctly, and inmate's rights are being violated. I guess the key word is 'inmate.' They hear that and they aren't overly interested. They think they're just crying wolf and turn a deaf ear. Well, let them know you want them to report the whole news, not just what they want to let everyone know. Find the paper in your area, or send something to them all. I am!

Whether you write one or write them all, write! Nothing can be done about this unless we get the story out there. Include the link to this website in your profiles, all your emails. Write it on the outside of all your mail and spread the word throughout the states. Raise the curiosity of enough folks, and get them to writing, too, they can't continue to ignore this travesty of justice!
